13th Miyakojima 100k Footrace, 17th January 2009. Miyakojima island is located in the most Western part of Japan, the weather of the race day was fine all day with a temperature of 10 degree Centigrade in the morning which rose to 23 degree by noon. At 5am, five hundred fifty three runners race started in darkness to run around the island. The winner was Hajime Matsubara, (who won IAU 100k World Cup in Winschoten, 2007) and in the womens' category, Norimi Sakurai, (2007 World Cupchampion and IAU Trail Challenge) won in 8:30:45. 395 runners finished within the time limit of 16 hours.
